"I began working with Joy in late November as very nervously called Varsity tutors and wanted to begin to prepare for the SLP Praxis. We took a brief month-long break while I got married, and then resumed consistently afterward in mid January (I took my test 1/23/26) . Our sessions typically ranged from 60–90 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time to dive deeply into challenging material while still feeling focused and supported and allowing for a safe space to practice sample style Praxis questions. From the very beginning, Joy was organized, intentional, professional, and felt as invested in me and my score as I felt throughout the process."

"Joy’s teaching style is truly exceptional because she meets you exactly where you are. As someone with ADHD who also struggles with testing anxiety, I often felt overwhelmed by the volume of material and the pressure of the exam and told her this in our first meeting. Joy never made me feel behind, incapable, or rushed even though I was feeling that way about myself. Instead, she adapted to how my brain works and redundantly re-explained in as many modalities as I needed until I was able to comprehend the topic myself. She presented information in structured, digestible ways, broke content into manageable pieces, and helped me process it step by step. She supported me exactly how I needed it with patience, clarity, and encouragement and could not feel more blessed to have learned from someone as wonderful as Joy."

"Joy has a remarkable ability to take complex, intimidating topics and make them feel understandable and even approachable. Whether we were reviewing neuroanatomy, motor speech disorders, voice disorders, research concepts, or test-taking strategy, she explained everything logically and thoroughly, though making it feel palatable. She doesn’t just tell you what the answer is, she taught me how to think, which truly was the most valuable skill. I consistently left sessions feeling less anxious and more capable solely based on Joy's support and tutoring. I shared with Joy repeatedly that I felt as though I was truly understanding these overwhelming and complex topics for the first time because of her."

"Before working with Joy, my anxiety often overshadowed my knowledge. By the time I sat for the exam, I felt prepared with both knowledge and strategy to begin the exam. Joy encouraged me to trust myself and the knowledge basis we have collaborated on rather than succumb to my anxiety."

"How can I give a thousand stars and every accolade I could ever give her. I cannot say enough about Joy’s expertise, professionalism, and how remarkable she is overall as a human. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also deeply compassionate and attuned to her students' individual needs which I was able to experience firsthand. She creates a safe, supportive learning environment where you feel seen, capable, and empowered just as I have.
I valued her mentorship so much and feel so grateful that I am able to continue tutoring with her as I progress on Portfolio Projects as a grad school exit requirement. Her feedback is intentional, constructive, and not to mention she's an expert in writing. She helps refine your clinical voice while making you feel supported every step of the way in an area that I do not feel overwhelmingly confident in.
Working with Joy has been one of the best decisions I made in my graduate journey. I am endlessly grateful for her guidance and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone preparing for the Praxis or seeking support with academic and professional writing."
